Matt grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia and started fly fishing in 1993. In 1996, after graduating from high school, he moved to Colorado to live out his dream of becoming a fly fishing guide. In 2003 Matt decided to move back to Lynchburg to guide his home waters. Matt’s passion is guiding, teaching, and being on the water. Matt has over 20 years of experience guiding beginners to advanced anglers. Matt was awarded the "Orvis Guide of the Year" for 2023.
Mike Rennie was born and raised in central Virginia. He grew up fishing local waters with his father who gifted him with his first fly rod at an early age. Over the years, Mike made it a goal to fish many destination waters not only in the United States but also throughout Brazil and Belize. Mike met Matt as a client where they quickly became friends while fishing for trout on the Jackson River. Mike began working under Matt soon after and enjoys fishing for smallmouth, trout, and musky.
