2022 is done and would like to thank everyone that has fished with me this past year! It was a good year for fishing in my opinion. I was fortunate enough to visit Brazil with a group of anglers twice in 2022 with Nomadic Waters. I'm taking 2023 with off from Brazil and returning February 9-17, 2024 with hosted trip to the Rio Negro, details to come.
Finished off 2022 with guiding trout and started doing some musky trips as well. Weather has been all over the place lately. Christmas week we had a cold front bring temps in the single digits and wind chill below zero. That sent a shock to the fish with water temps dropping fast. As I type this we've had 60 degree weather which will help bring water temps back up and help the Winter fishing bite. So far this coming week we have temps above normal!
Far as the fishing the next couple months I will be spending my time on the Jackson river and the Smith river tailwaters fishing for trout. The James River will be providing the chance at a musky. Just a couple more months and will be back to warmer temps and different species to target. Winter definitely isn't my favorite time of year for fishing but fish still eat, just less and we might as well be there to feed them!
Happy New Year and looking forward to spending more time on the water making memories in 2023!
