As I write this, it is snowing here in Central Virginia. We typically do not see snow past February in this area, but this hasn’t been a typical year so far. I was out on the Staunton River again today with high hopes of finding life. We had a hodge podge kind of day, with a catfish, smallmouth, walleye and a couple of white bass landed on the fly. Water is still too cold for the stripers, but we have a good warm-up coming, so stripers will soon show, as they have for hundreds of years, but later than usual this year.
