Finished the month of June on Virginia’s best smallmouth bass rivers.  The James, Staunton, and Maury rivers fished well when they weren’t high and dirty.   Its been a struggle to stay on the water last month but luckily between those rivers I found fishable water.

I had a few anglers get their personal best bass last week.  Tuesday’s trip started out with a personal  best at 17 1/2 inches for my client Nathan.  Later that day we smashed that 17 1/2 with a monster measuring 22 1/8 inches that ate streamer in shallow water.

With the rivers warming from the Summer air temps and water levels dropping (if we don’t anymore downpours) topwater fishing will be in full swing for the rest of Summer.  July, August, and September are out standing months to fish poppers all day.  This past week my anglers had great success with poppers fished along the banks and will do nothing but get better!
