The smallmouth bass fishing on the James river continues to produce some great fish and numbers of bass. The past two days have given up some big fish! Friend and client Glenn stuck a 20 inch citation on Tuesday and that was the first smallmouth bass of the day. Over the past two trips we put 6 big smallmouth bass in the boat and hooked plenty other ones that got away. The average bass being caught on poppers has been 14 inches. It would be hard to beat the fishing we are having right now, so if you are looking to catch some bass on topwater flies give me a call!
