One Extreme to the Next

Well the drought is over.  I was really starting to get worried about how dry it has been.  I must say not cancelling a trip for two months was nice and unusual.  Apparently God heard my concerns that the rivers  were getting on the low side.  Last week most of the state received 5 to 7 inches of rain.  The streak of not cancelling guide trips is now over.  The rain came at a bad time with primetime approaching at Weldon, NC for the striped bass run.  I have canceled trips down there till the water comes down and hopefully it will with enough time to catch some more stripers before they head back to the ocean.  My worries are over for now with not having enough water.  The Jackson River is up and rolling which isn’t good for much except slinging streamers to the bank.   No complaints though, catching trout on streamers is one of my favorite things.  Here are a few pics from the last striped bass trip before the rains came and some beautiful brown trout from recent trips.DSC_3697 DSC_3675 DSC_3681 DSC_3677
