Today is my first day off in ten days. The guide season has broke loose and for good reason. Weather is great, flowers are blooming and trees are budding. Rivers are in great shape as well. Trout fishing has been great since March and continues to get better. Water temps are rising and bringing out the bugs. Most days I have been seeing caddis, small stones, and mayflies hatching. Mountain streams are seeing March Browns (mayfly) right now along with other insects. Yesterday I did my first striper trip of the season. The lake run striped bass have started making their way up river from Bugg’s Island Lake. The fish were scattered about but enough male stripers in the river to have a fun day. This is just the start, so more stripers are on their way and the bigger females will be in by the end of the month. Come out and experience what Spring is all about here Virginia. Whether its trout fly fishing or fly fishing for striped bass we have what your looking for!
