I spent the last day of March with a great client catching wild browns on one of Virginia’s prettiest rivers. This March was truly one of the best I have experienced in quite sometime. It warmed up quickly, which brought the water temps up to a more desirable temperature for a hungry brown. Most of the nice fish caught were on streamers this past month, but there were some dandies on nymphs as well. With April here tomorrow we will start to see more hatches and some of best dry fly fishing Virginia has to offer over the next two months. Trout aren’t the only game in town though in the Spring. Striped bass have started their migration up rivers from the reservoirs and the ocean for their annual spawn. I hope to start hooking into them next week. Whether trout is your game or you prefer the hard hitting and pulling striped bass, the next two months should not be missed in Virginia!
