Smallmouth bass fishing continues to be good even with the low and very clear water conditions. They are bit spooky when the fish are directly in the sunlight but if you focus on the shade you won’t spook as many with your cast. Cicadas are still around and falling on occasions from the trees to help feed the bass. I had one trip this past week where my client landed a 18 inch bass on a slider that had about 12 inches of a snake hanging out of its mouth. Everything is on the menu as Fall approaches but topwater flies is my preferred method. Grass is thick now so you need to focus on the areas that do not have a lot of grass or bare bottom. Here are a few from the past week of guiding.
