Just finished up 5 days on the water with clients fishing for striped bass and trout. More and more fish are showing up on the Staunton river near Brookneal, VA. The bigger female stripers showed up just recently and we got into some fish in the 5 to 10 pound range on Monday’s trip. The water is as clear as I have ever seen it this time of year due to the dry weather. Most Aprils I would be cancelling or rescheduling trips due to rain and high flows but haven’t had to cancel any since the first of March. We do need some rain and hope to see some in the near future but not to much.
This weekend April 23rd and 24th I will be in Waynesboro, VA at the South River Fly Expo. This is a new outdoor show in Virginia. The weather is looking great this weekend! The show is on the banks of the South River which is a great trout fishery we have here in Virginia. You can come wet a line and see the vendors and speakers at the show all in the same place. Pat Dorsey, (CO guide, author) Greg Senyo, Stu Apte, and Chuck Kraft will be there giving presentations over the weekend. I will be giving a presentation each day at 11:30am on the fishing opportunities we have here in Virginia. Hope to see you there and come by my booth and say hello!
