I had two of my favorite clients out over the weekend. One drives from D.C. and the other from Louisville, Ky. So they figured they would meet in the middle for this trip. East TN was our decision for this trip. You can’t visit east TN without fishing the South Holston river near Bristol, TN. The South Holston is one of the best trout rivers in south east and likely the best. We did not have generation from the dam this trip so that made floating the river tricky. Friend Patrick Fulkrod and South Holston river guide told me about a float I could pull of with no generation. We did spook a bunch of fish when fishing from the boat but did really well getting out nymph fishing the riffles. We did catch fish from the boat with dry and dropper rigs casting them far from the boat. When we reached our last hole we had started to get some shade on the water and Kenny was throwing a 6 inch streamer far as he could towards the bank structure. Kenny ended up with a 24 and 1/2 inch brown trout in the boat from his efforts! Incredible fish to end our two day trip on!
