Its been a crazy six days. Good friend and the man responsible for me being a fishing guide, Pat Dorsey came to VA. Pat came and gave a presentation to the local TU chapter and one at Mossy Creek Fly Shop this week. In between Pat showing off his talents with a camera and speaking about the great rivers in Colorado we got out and fished with friends. First off Pat tried musky for the first time. With in the first hour and half Pat had a 40 inch or so musky on that ate his fly on the figure 8. Unfortunately after a minute fight with the beast, line went slack. Pat was jacked even though he lost it, but how about a first try at musky. Not complaining about hooking up that quick. Pat was jacked and will be back to try again. After we got home from musky we packed for trout and headed south towards Bristol, TN. We fished the Watuaga river one day with our good friend Doug. Watuaga fished okay, but wasn’t on fire like I have seen many days. Next day we headed over to the South Holston to fish with Patrick Fulkrod from Mountain Sports, Ltd. It was 10 degrees when we started and the white stuff was piling up in the boat. First fish in the boat was a healthy 20 inch brown trout. We had a incredible day of fishing despite the weather, but to cold to drink beer. It was great to see one of my best friends and fish our tails off even though it hasn’t been warmer than 25 degrees lately.
